Mumbai: KCA Nallasopara celebrates Monti Fest

Mumbai, 23 Sep 2014: Konkani Catholic Association (KCA) Nallasopara celebrated the feast of Nativity of Mary (Monti Fest) at St Francis De Sales parish hall, Nallasopara (East) here on Sunday September 22.
St Francis De Sales parish priest and KCA Nallasopara spiritual director Fr Baptist D’Souza blessed the new paddy-sheaves at the parish premises.
The little children showered flowers in honor of Infant Mary during the procession.
Fr Francis D’Souza SVD form Vasai celebrated the festal Eucharistic Mass.
Fr Francis in his homily said that the feast of Nativity of Mary signifies the family bond for Mangalorean Catholics. Meanwhile, the feast gets real meaning if one forgives the family member of wrong deeds and neighbours; fosters peace in the neighbourhood.
KCA Nallasopara president Harry B Coutinho Mundkoor led the Monti Fest celebration at the St Francis De Sales School hall, after the Holy Mass.
Fr S Kinalia conducted the prayers and delivered his message. Fr Kinalia laid emphasis on peaceful living by forgiving brethrens, shunning jealousy and cheating. The true happiness lies in giving up ego. Mother Mary is the succor of poor and oppressed, said Fr Kinalia.
KCA treasurer Alwyn F D’Souza, executive Committee members Lilly Quadros, Inaz D’Souza, Richard Pinto, John Alva, Leena Pereira, Hilda D’Souza, Laveena D’Souza, Leena Lobo, Ronnie Pais, Violet Moraes, Nancy D’Souza, Romeo, Royston, Rose Mary, Lucy Noronha and others were present.
KCA vice president Gracy Pinto welcomed the gathering. Harry B Cutinho explained the significance of Monti Fest celebrations. The secretary Claude D’Silva proposed vote of thanks.
