Mangalore: Children Enjoy to the Hilt at ‘Kajulo Porob-2010’

Mangalore, 03  November 2010:  ’Kajulo’ the only Konkanni Children’s Monthly magazine is a sister concern of Raknno Konkanni Weekly published from Mangalore. On the occasion of 12th anniversary of ’Kajulo’ monthly, in collaboration with Loretto Church, it had organized a children’s fiesta ’Kajulo Porob - 2010’ in Loreto Church Campus on the 1st of November 2010. More than 1200 children participated in the festival.

 

Children’s Fiesta

The feast began with attractive performance of unique ’Shri Durga Nasik Band’ of Moodbidri together with the dances by the Jokers which entertained the children and put every one of them in a festal mood.

 

At 10.30 a.m. Fr Cyprian Pinto the Parish Priest of Loretto Church gave an official start to the fiesta by pasting the title ’KAJULO POROB – 2010’ brought by the children on the backdrop.

 

Mr Joe Coelho the Vice President of Loretto Parish, Mr Hubert Lobo the Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council, Fr Mark Walder of Gantalkatte, Fr Joseph Lobo of Niddodi, Fr Harold Pereira of Paladka, Fr Fredrick Monteiro of Nainadu, CGS Taccode, Sr Zeena Pereira, Roshan Pinto, Nelson Menezes, Kevin D’Souza, Brian Menezes, Fr Francis Rodrigues and Mr John Furtado were present on the dais.

 

 

Throughout the day variety of competitions for the children were held. There were quiz competitions in three groups and class wise games with attractive prizes. Special variety of entertainment was given by dance groups from Mangalore and Ranson Crasta from Bejai. The day’s winners as well as winners of literary competitions which were held during the past months for the children were honoured during the concluding ceremony. 15 parishes participated in inter-parish group dance competitions. Angelore group won the first prize, Siddakatte group won the second place and Modankap group won the third prize.

 

Three new Konkanni publications of Raknno publications and a book of Akash Publications were released on this occasion during the concluding function. Mr Tony Ferros, Sub-editor of Raknno-Kajulo introduced the new publications.

 

’Dhakdyachyo Kaniyo’ (Decennial Short Stories - 109th book of Raknno Publications) – A collection of short stories by renowned Konkanni short story writers from 2001 to 2010 was released from a decennial stand by Fr Cyprian Pinto. ’RANDPA KUDANTH’ – A presentation of more than 300 recipies (108th book of Raknno Publications) by Mrs Grace D’Cruz was released from a cooking pot (kundlem) by Geo Agrar, the chief guest, renowned Konkanni writer and children rights activist. ’HASO ANI TAMASO’ (a collection of Konkanni Satires - 110th book of Raknno Publications) released from a joker stand by V. Rev. Fr Roque D’Souza, the President of the concluding function and Deanery head of Bantwal Deanery.

 

’Monzathinchyo Gadhi’ A collection of Konkanni riddles on animals and birds by Mrs Gladys Rego was released from an old trunk by Very Rev. Fr Roque D’Souza. So far Raknno Publications has published 110 publications. ’Kanun Darshan’ – a Raknno Publication book on legal awareness by Shirtady William Pinto has seen 6 record editions in a short span of life.

 

Mr Geo Agrar invited the crowd of children gathered to use their talents and bloom wherever they are planted rather than dream of becoming stars of the skies. V. Rev. Fr Roque D’Souza persuaded the children to live their childhood. Together with them Fr Cyprian Pinto, the guest of honour distributed the prizes.

 

Derrol D’Souza and Lenita Menezes compeered the programme, Editor Fr Francis Rodrigues welcomed and Manager Mr John Furtado proposed vote of thanks. Kajulo staff, well wishers and the members of ICYM as well as YCS of Loreto together with parish priest Fr Cyprian Pinto organized the fiesta.

 

’Kajulo’ magazine has organized children’s fiesta from the year 2005. Earlier feasts have taken place in Mangalore, Kasargod, Udupi and Alangar.
