Mangalore: Yashwin getting ready for big stage

Mangalore, 28 February 2011: Yashwith Puthran, a Class 8 student of Sagar Vidya Mandir, Udupi district, has been selected for the national-level under-14 cricket team.
He has represented the State in tournaments held at Ajjarakad in Udupi and in Mysore. He has participated in the under-14 and under-16 cricket events held in Manipal.
Yashwith took to cricket seriously in 2009 and was selected for the district-level teams, guided by Udaya Kumar, his first coach from KRS Academy Katpadi. Jayaraj Muttu, a divisional trainer from Mangalore, too has played a key role in grooming the boy.
Yashwith is a right hand batsman and a left arm bowler. He likes to be called an all-rounder.
His mother said that the school encouraged him a lot. Love for cricket has not weaned him away from his studies. S. Padmashree, headmistress of the school, said that Yashwith, who hails from a small hamlet in Padubidri, has been through several ups and downs in life.
