Surathkal: Labourer killed as hillock caves in

Surathkal, 07 January 2011: A labourer was killed when a hillock caved in near a residential complex which is under construction in Surathkal on Friday.

 

 

The deceased has been identified as Sunil, a native of Orissa. He along with other workers were engaged in work when a hillock caved in. It was said that the deceased was caught inside the lose soil for nearly 15 minutes.

 

The locals struggled to remove him. Later, fire service personnel rushed to the spot and removed the body. It was said that nearly 50 labourers are residing adjacent to the hillock.

 

About 20 labourers were on site when the incident occurred. Another labourer Layila has suffered injuries. A case has been registered.
