New Delhi, 16 October 2010: Foreign minister S M Krishna on Friday expressed unhappiness over the ongoing power tussle in his home state Karnataka, and feared that it may have taken the sheen off ’Brand Bangalore’.
Talking to reporters here, Krishna said he was "distressed" to see the pandemonium in state assembly, terming the proceedings during the trust vote a "blot on the fair name of Karnataka".
He said that the ugly power struggle may dent the image of India as a whole. "The world sees emerging India through Karnataka. Bangalore, the IT capital, is the focal point," Krishna, a former chief minister of the state, said.
Though he refrained from criticising any of the protagonists in the murky drama — the governor or the chief minister or the Speaker — Krishna maintained that the proceedings of the assembly on the day of trust vote were not carried out in accordance with the rules.
"The way the session was conducted, all kinds of people getting in... Assembly hall was overcrowded. I was distressed that such a thing should have happened," he said, adding that the Speaker should have maintained decorum.
