MAHE boosts cybersecurity measures by donating 10 computers to CEN Crime police station

Udupi, 03 Apr 2024: In a strategic move to combat the rising cybercrime threat in the region, the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) has contributed 10 high-tech computer systems to the Cyber Economic and Narcotics (CEN) Crime police station in Udupi District. This initiative reflects MAHE Manipal’s commitment to leveraging its resources for the betterment of community safety and enhancing the capabilities of law enforcement in cybersecurity.

 

Understanding the critical nature of the cyber threats facing today’s digital society, MAHE Manipal’s donation aims to empower the Cyber Economic and Narcotics (CEN) Crime police station with the necessary technological tools to effectively tackle cybercrime. The provision of cutting-edge computer systems, equipped with the latest cybersecurity software, is intended to bolster the police’s ability to investigate digital crimes, analyze evidence, and apprehend cybercriminals.

 

 

Dr H S Ballal, pro chancellor of MAHE Manipal, emphasized the institution’s dedication to this cause, stating, "In today’s digital age, it’s imperative we strengthen our cybersecurity infrastructure. This donation to the Cyber Economic and Narcotics (CEN) Crime police station is a step towards ensuring a safer community. We are committed to providing the necessary resources and training to help law enforcement combat cybercrime effectively."

 

Further reinforcing the importance of this collaboration, Lieutenant General (Dr) M D Venkatesh, vice chancellor of MAHE Manipal, highlighted the initiative’s broader goals: "By equipping the Cyber Economic and Narcotics (CEN) Crime police station with advanced computer systems and software, we aim to bolster their capabilities in investigating and preventing cybercrimes. This initiative reflects our dedication to fostering a secure digital environment and our belief in the power of partnership between academia and law enforcement in tackling cybersecurity challenges."

 

The 10 high-tech computer systems were handed over to S T Siddalingappa, additional superintendent of police, Udupi and other important officials of Udupi Police and MAHE were also present. This contribution is part of MAHE Manipal’s broader efforts to engage with and support the local community in addressing the pressing issue of cybercrime. By providing advanced technological resources, along with technical assistance and training, MAHE Manipal hopes to enhance the effectiveness of local law enforcement agencies in safeguarding the digital well-being of the community.
