Bangalore, 23 September 2010: School and colleges in Karnataka will function normally Sep 24-25 following the decision of the Supreme Court to defer Allahabad High Court’s Ayodhya verdict by a week, an official statement on Thursday said.

"In view of the stay for the pronouncement of the final judgment by the Allahabad High Court pertaining to the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babari Masjid issue, the state government has cancelled the holidays declared for Sep 24 and 25," an official release said.

Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa had Wednesday declared two-day holiday for all educational institutions, both government and private, as a precautionary measure as the Allahabad High Court was to deliver its verdict Sep 24.

The state police had decided to deploy 50,000 police personnel, about 18,000 of them in Bangalore alone, Rapid Action Force personnel and home guards across the state to maintain peace.
