Udupi: St Mary’s College, Shirva holds 74th Army Day celebrations

Udupi, 17 Jan 2022: It is the duty of every young citizen to maintain the security of the nation these days. Today, we need to increase the armed forces to protect national assets, natural resources, law and order. It is essential today that the Army and its citizens must work together to ensure that the country’s progress is fully supported by the citizens and the government, said Rakesh Agila, head of Aadhaya Foundation, Kemundel, near here.
Rakesh was the chief guest speaking at the 74th Army Day celebrations organized by the St Mary’s College, Shirva, near here on Monday, January 17.
The College NCC army wing is helpful in enhancing patriotism, discipline, time management and leadership qualities among the youth, he added.
Rakesh also advised today’s youth should be successful in the competitive world and be a role model to others and make their valuable contribution to the country without affecting any misfortune.
The principal of the College, who presided the event, said that it was the duty of every Indian citizen to honor the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect the homeland and protect national integrity.
Dr Herald Ivan Monis spoke and greeted everyone.
Cadet Rhea Serena D’Souza explained the main purpose and significance of the event.
Company Sergeant Quartermaster Mohith N Salian sang a patriotic song and motivated the crowd.
NCC officer of the College Lieutenant K Praveen Kumar, senior under officer Vishal S Moolya, corporal Dheeraj Acharya, Lance corporal Lobo Rhea Ann Nevil, faculty, administrative staff and all cadets were present.
Cadet Anup Nayak and Deepak assisted in the celebration. Cadet Navya and team rendered prayers. Sergeant Nivedita Rebello greeted everyone, Junior Under Officer Suraksha proposed vote of thanks and cadet Elrusha Milina D’Sa compered the event.
