Bantwal: Woman teacher of state-run school commits suicide over transfer orders

Bantwal, 15 Derc 2021: A woman teacher of a state-run high school in Bantwal taluk who had attempted to commit suicide a few days ago died in a private hospital on Tuesday, December 14.
Priya Kumari (48), a resident of Vittal was the unfortunate teacher serving at Papejalu Government High School near Ariyadka in Puttur taluk.
Sources informed that Priya had attempted to commit suicide at their home located nearby CPCRI, Vittal on December 13 morning. She had hung herself with a rope in one of the rooms when her husband was in the bathroom. Although she was taken to a private hospital at Mangaluru, after she was found hanging to the roof at home. However, she passed away at the hospital on December 14.
Priya was serving as designated head teacher at Harady School in Puttur till Thursday, December 9. Meanwhile, she was transferred to Papejalu Government High School recently. She was present at Papejau High School on Saturday, December 12. She was a sensitive person and seemed to be of serious nature. She might have been worried about teaching for Class X students that she was unprepared for. It might have drawn her to commit suicide as an easy escape.
Her husband is a retired soldier and employed in a bank. Priya is survived by her husband and 2 daughters. She has served at Harayi School for 11 years.
