Mangaluru: National Cancer Awareness Day held

Mangaluru, 09 Nov 2020: CODP, here, Caritas India and Sneha Okkoota Kinnigoli on November 7 jointly held a national ’Cancer Awareness Da’ at the Community auditorium in Kodi.
Sparsha project, CODP convener, Shilpa Raina D’Souza welcomed the elite and the other gathering. The programme president of CODP, director Fr Oswald Montheiro expressed his worries over the increasing number of cancer patients in the country and hoped that the Sprasha project may bring about sufficient awareness and be sympathetic to the cancer patients.
Resource person Vijay Kumar, head of the department of NTCP at Wenlock district hospital explained in detail about cancer and the adverse complications due to the consumption of tobacco. Harina J Rao who faced cancer and got cured shared her experience of the disease and said that self-confidence is the strength.
CODP co-director, Fr Vincent D’Souza called on the people to start a garden of organic vegetation at home and consume organic vegetables for a healthy life. He distributed vegetable seeds to the gathering on behalf of CODP.
A video film titled, ‘Sparsha, a movement against Cancer’, was inaugurated and shown. It will be made to reach the people via the media.
