Udupi, 01 Jun 2020: In DK and Udupi districts private city service buses will start from June 1 and will be full-fledged within a week, said Rajavarma Ballal, president of the Canara Bus Owners’ Association.

He said this while speaking at a news conference on Saturday in view of the Central government’s guidelines allowing resumption of bus services.

Ballal added that they have requested for a 3-month tax break. We have received tax breaks for 2 months and have demanded for an additional month again.

He further stated that the government has agreed to a 15% hike in bus fares. All CCB passes issued already will be converted into cash cards and no discounts will be available till the end of the COVID-19 crisis.

Buses will ply between 7 am to 7 pm. The minimum fare from Monday will be Rs 10 and only 30 passengers will be allowed to travel at once.
