Two arrested for assaulting traffic constable on duty

Mangaluru, 25 Oct: A traffic police was assaulted on duty by two men here at Nanthoor circle on October 24. The two accused were arrested later.

 

Police arrested Irfan (31) from Sampya and Abdul Azeez (52), resident of Krishnapur.

 

Traffic constable Yathish was on duty at Nanthoor. A car bearing registration number KA 19 MK 2529 was obstructing the traffic and causing traffic jam at the Nanthoor circle area. When the policeman asked the driver to stop the car, the driver did not stop. Hence, the policemen took the photograph of the car.

 

The driver of the car, who noticed the police constable taking the picture of the number plate, used abusive language at the cop and also assaulted him along with the co-passenger.

 

A case was registered at Mangaluru east police station in this regard.
