Karkala: Shaman Shetty, native of Sooda promoted as Captain in Indian army

Karkala, 26 Sep 2018: Shaman Shetty, a youth from Sooda, near Belman, here, was promoted as captain in Indian army. Shaman joined the army after securing 33rd rank in UPSC exam.
He is the son of Mumbai entrepreneur the late Sudhakar Shetty and Shobha Shetty.
Shaman had undergone training at Army Officers Training Academy, Chennai for 1 year, beginning from October 1, 2016 and was posted as Lieutenant at 6th Rajaputana Rifles Infantry Battalion serving in Assam where he is promoted as Captain now.
He was born in Sooda, and done his studies in Mumbai. He had on secured distinct in engineering that he had done at Bapooji Institute of Engineering and Technology, Davanagere, Karnataka.
He was bestowed the honor of General Officer Commanding in chief, for his role in capturing insurgents alive recently, by Lieutenant General Abaya Krishna, Eastern Army Commander and Regiment Colonel in the presence of Chief of Armed Forces Major General Bipin Rawat on September 22.
