Hillock near Surathkal caves in

Surathkal, 28 August 2010: Traffic movement has been affected in Thokuru due to the caving in of hillock on the road which connects MSEZ rehabilitation colony. 

 
The colony residents have expressed their anguish against the caving in of the hillock which has occurred due to the heavy rainfall since few days. Last year, the hillock was in news owing to some gossips in the region. A group of enthusiasts had climbed the hillock pertaining to false news of hillock containing treasure and the presence of a ‘speaking tree’ in the hilock. During then, a Hitachi driver who was indulged in leveling the hillock for the purpose of MSEZ colony construction had heard a ‘tree speaking’ due to which he quit the work. In the meantime, there was also news about the availability of fragrance water in the area which had made a lot many people to visit the place.

Now there are all chances of the hillock falling on the road if the rain continues to pour. It would block the pedestrians and the vehicle movements in the region.
