Alok Mohan takes charge as the new IGP for Western Range

• ‘Police will be ruthless on anti-nationals’

Mangalore, 27 August 2010: ’Police will be ruthless on anti-India elements. No such elements can survive the onslaught of law,’ said Inspector General of Police (Western Range) Alok Mohan. 

 
Addressing the reporters after taking charge as the new IGP of the Western range, on Friday, he said that the range which he heads is the most sensitive one, which is influenced by various factors like communal hooliganism, naxalism, underworld activities and terrorist activities in specific but police department is determined to tackle such anti-social element ruthlessly.

“Criminals have no boundaries and hence we too will work without boundaries. We will indulge into intensive policing to ensure that rule of law absolutely remains in place and expectation of people on policing is met,” the IGP said opining that the gap between public and police needs to be bridged and this can be done by the media.
“Very often the works done by the police is not informed to the public. Many complainants too feel that the police is not doing anything to solve their case because the development in the case is not made known to them. The gap between the public and police needs to be bridged,” he said.

He has worked as the Commander of International Police Task Force and has taken part in the British Police Command Course and from his international exposure Alok Mohan feels that Indian policing is way ahead of many other nations.

Alok Mohan who joined the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 1987, has MSc (Honors) degree from IIT Roorki and MPhil from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi.
