Karkala: Mystery shrouds suicide of 10th std girl

Karkala, 16 August 2010: Mystery shrouds the death of Rajeshwari (15), a tenth standard student of Kukkundur Durga High School, who reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself with her chudidar shawl to a cashew tree, several kms away from her house. The girl was missing ever since she left for school on August 13, Friday. She was staying at her aunt’s house and following her missing her aunt had lodged a complaint with Karkala police. But on August 14, people saw her body in a hanging state.

Her school bag was found in the vicinity. She was found wearing her slippers and her umbrella was broken ; packets of biscuits and chakkuli were also found nearby. Her committing suicide at a place which was 14 km away from her house has given room for doubts with locals even fearing that this might be even a case of murder.

Reports said she had taken a cash of Rs 500 when she had left home and had even left behind a note saying “ Do not search for me, if I had erred forgive me.” Investigations are in progress.
