Fr Louis D’Souza of Mangalore Diocese expired

Mangalore, 17 Jun 2013: Rev. Fr Louis D’Souza who is a priest of the Diocese of Mangalore passed away on Monday June 17th 2013 at 8.30 p.m. in a private hospital in Mangalore because of aspiration pneumonia. He was 69 years old and a priest for the last 40 years.
Bishop of Mangalore Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza and Msgr Denis Prabhu the Vicar General of the Diocese of Mangalore have condoled his death.
He was born at Belle (Moodubelle) Parish on 26th of September, 1944. After having joined St Joseph’s Seminary, Mangalore and after the priestly studies, he was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Mangalore on the 10th of May 1973.
He was the Assistant Parish Priest of Udyavar parish from 1973 to 1977. He was the Parish Priest of Indubettu mission parish from 1977 to 1981, of Belve-Gummahola Agricultural mission parish from 1981 to 1985, of Petri from 1988 to 1993 and of Kumbla from 1993 to 1998. For couple of years he was rendering pastoral services at Rosario Cathedral and Kulshekar (Cordel) parishes.
Because of health reasons he voluntarily retired from the active priestly ministry in 1998. As retired priest he was residing in Bishop’s House of the Diocese of Mangalore till 2008 and from 2008 to up till now he was residing at Vianney Home, retired priests’ home of the Diocese of Mangalore at Kankanady.
His funeral Mass would be celebrated at St Vincent Ferrer Church, Valencia at 4.00 p.m. on Tuesday 18th of June and the mortal remains would be interred at priests’ cemetery in Valencia.
