London: Dubai ruler wins World Endurance Championship
London, 26 Aug 2012: Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has won the individual and team gold medals at the World Endurance Championships in the UK.
Riding 12-year-old horse Madji Du Pont, the ruler of Dubai covered the event’s distance of 160km in seven hours and 45 seconds.
He was followed by Emirati pair, Shaikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum and Ali Khalfan Al Jahouri in second and third respectively.
Speaking after the race that was held in Euston Hall in Suffolk, Sheikh Mohammed expressed his delight at winning the event.
“The weather could have been worse, but God was kind and gave us some good conditions in which to race,” he said. “This feels great.”
