Jakarta, 27 June 2010: Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal continued her rampaging form as she completed a spectacular hat-trick of titles by clinching the Indonesia Open Super Series with a straight-game triumph over Japan’s Sayaka Sato here on Sunday.

Unbeaten for the past three weeks, the top seeded defending champion defeated her unseeded but resolute rival 21-19 13-21 21-11 in a rollercoaster encounter that lasted 45 minutes.

This was Saina’s third successive title, having won the Indian Open Grand Prix at home and the Singapore Open Super Series Tournament last week. This is also the 20-year-old’s third Super Series title overall.

In a see-saw battle, the 19-year-old Sato matched the defending champion shot for shot for most part of the opening game but was undone by her own mistakes at crucial junctures.

The first game that lasted 14 minutes had both the players tied 11-11 at one stage and though Saina remained ahead for most part after that, a gritty Sato did have her share of chances.

Leading 20-18, Saina could have finished it off on her own serve but she handed Sato a chance by hitting the shuttle wide. But Sato could not capitalise and smacked a forehand into the net to give Saina the opening game.

The second game saw Sato making a comeback with the change of ends also leading to a change in fortunes. The Japanese proved to be the more dominant of the two players in these 15 minutes as she raced to a 4-9 lead.

Sato sent down some powerful shots from the baseline and Saina could only watch as they fell out of her range. The frustration of being out-witted by a rival ranked 26th in the world showed when Saina clinched her fist at one of Sato’s unforced errors.Shaken by the setback, Saina roared back in the decisive third game. The Indian took a comprehensive 11-5 lead but continuing her never-say-die attitude, Sato reduced the margin to 9-13.

The Indian, however, was in no mood to slip up and emerged triumphant after reeling off four successive points.A jubilant Saina let out a huge scream after winning the title, which also made her richer by USD 18,750.

Saina is one of the best sports person India could offer in this decade. The most impressing about her other than her playing is her attitude towards the game. She knows her ability and plays accordingly. Surely she is not among those who want to attract the media and publicity. It is great that India is blessed with persons like her who fight for the country. Even though the media did not give her the encouragement all these years, she kept on marching. She is the real jewel and a role model to the youngsters in our country.

Congratulations, fantastic achievement Saina Nehwal for hatrick wins of titles in the international Badminton competitions. She won the Indonesian Open just today. The whole nation is indeed proud of her achievements and wins after wins in this not-so-popular game of Badminton. What is rather astonishing is that this interesting an enjoybale Game of Feathers, does not get due recognition in our nation where the game of cricket is religion to all. Had it been the World cup or win in a Test or one-day series, in cricket, the whole team of 15 members will have been overwhelmingly felicitated and rewards worth crores would have been showered upon them. However, in the game of Badminton the one-woman army of Saina Nehwal, gets few accolades and rewards. Sadly, her feats dont even become the talk of the town unlike cricket which is talked about in trains, crowded markets etc. Also, same is the fate of another intelligent game called Chess. Very few people would have known about Vishwanathan Anand recently winning the World title, once again. And we never saw big functions and felicitations to honour him.

Congratulations Saina. The Nation is proud of you. I think Saina Nehwal is one of the best sport persons India has ever produced and she deserves all appreciation for the stupendous achievements. Let us encourage and provide all support so that she becomes World No. 1 soon. We hope the PM will also send an appreciation note to Saina, as he did for Indian cricket team winning Asia cup.

3 titles in a series.India is really proud of you Saina. I am glad that the media has shifted its attention from Sania to Saina. Sania Mirza was over hyped.
