Mangalore: 2-Day National Seminar on Dakshina Kannada after 1947, underway at SAC

Mangalore, 14 Feb 2014: The department of history of St Aloysius College organized two-day nation seminar on ‘Dakshina Kannada after 1947’ from Friday February 14 to Saturday February 15. The inaugural ceremony was held at Eric Mathias Hall in the college premises on Friday February 14 at 9.30 am.

Mangalore University department of history and research former chairman was the chief guest delivered keynote address stressing on the development of Dakshina Kannada with the help of mass participation.

 

 
Speaking on the occasion, Dr A M Narahari said, ‘I’m in a dilemma when I have to speak briefly about Dakshina Kannada,’ said Dr Narahari. He also said that there are many positives to the place when you look at it from the viewpoint of an insider as well as an outsider.

 
St Aloysius College principal Fr Swebert D’Silva SJ in his presidential address said that the economy and education has developed tremendously since the 1947 but the communal tension has increased and the research work has decreased in Dakshina Kannada district.

 
St Aloysius education institutions rector Fr Denzel Lobo SJ will preside the valedictory function here on Saturday February 15 at 4.00pm.

 
Mangalore University former chairman of department of economics and K S Hegde Institute of Management (Nitte) Professor Dr G V Joshi will be the chief guest of the occasion.
