Mangaluru: Graduation Day held at St Aloysius College

Mangaluru, 6 Sep 2015: Professor Vivek Rai, former vice chancellor of KSOU, Mysore and Kannada University, was the chief guest beautifully put it on the occasion of fifth Graduation Ceremony of St Aloysius College (Autonomous) here at St Aloysius High School auditorium on Saturday September 4 at 4.00pm. The theme was ‘Empowering the youth through excellence in education to shape a better future for humankind.’


Internationally renowned scholar, Professor B A Vivek Rai further said, ‘The division between subjects belonging to Science/Technology and Arts/Humanities has resulted in a wide gap ideologically. This kind of academic divorce has resulted in the change of worldview and behavioral patterns of the youth.’
 
He gave away the certificates for 1649 candidates eligible for graduation. Rank holders in Under Graduation level and students in Post-Graduation level were awarded with medals. Special prizes were given to the rank holders by Sharanguda, in memory of his son Banu Prakash, former student of this college. The graduates pledged the oath to support the cause of morality, to uphold and advance social order and well-being of humankind. It also stressed in the promotion of the mission of St.Aloysius College by being men and women for others.

 

 
Fr Denzel Lobo SJ, Rector of St Aloysius Institutions congratulated the graduates on this occasion and also called it a commencement day. In his presidential address, he expressed his deep sense of appreciation and wished them all the success in their careers. He mentioned that our world needs to be a clean global home as relative consumerism is leading to environmental degradation. He exclaimed his concern for comfort, solace, peace, and justice in a society that is on a verge of corruption and injustice.


The principal of the College Fr Swebert D’Silva SJ, Dr A M Narahari, Registrar, Dr A Shridar, Convener of the ceremony, all vice principals and deans were present on the dais.


This programme was witnessed by the parents of graduates, staff-members, and students.
