Udupi, 30 Nov 2013: A teenage girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging at her residence in Giliyar near Kota on Friday morning. The deceased Shubha, 15, who was studying in 9th standard at a private school in Kota, is said to have taken the extreme step after her mother couldn’t give her the Rs 200 she had asked for.
On Thursday night, Shubha had asked her mother Baby for Rs 200 and the latter who didn’t have that amount at the time promised to give the money after Shubha’s father Shiva Sriyan returned from Kerala. This is said to have angered Shubha.
On Friday at around 10am, after her mother who is a daily wage earner left for work and her younger brother to school, Shubha stayed at home saying she was not keeping well. When Shubha’s mother returned home during lunch hour, she saw that Shubha had locked her room from inside. Where there was no answer to repeated knocks, the neighbours broke open the door. Shubha was found hanging and had breathed her last by then. A case has been registered at Kota police station.
