Mangalore: Vivid lanterns at Kudroli Temple transpire one to world of lights

Mangalore, 2 Nov 2013: Attractive lanterns of myriad colours, sizes and shapes were the cynosure of all eyes at the Goodudeepa competition organized by Namma Kudla TV channel at Gokarnanata temple, Kudroli, here on Friday November 1.
The competition was organized in 3 categories - traditional, modern and nature. Winners in all the three categories were presented with sovereign coins.
Over 500 colorful lanterns adorned the premises of the temple, virtually creating a world of lights altogether. Kulshekar Master Guys’ 11 ft high lantern made by using coconut shells, lantern in the shape of Taj Mahal, Vivekananda memorial rock at Kanyakumari and many other unusual and creative lanterns made the competition tough for the panelists and indeed delightful one for the visitors.
Moodbidri – Alvas Education Foundation chairman Dr Mohan Alva conferred Namma Kudla - 2013 Award on the occasion.
The city-based Sri Devi Education Trust ® chairman Sadananda Shetty was conferred with Namma Tuluveru Award. St Aloysius High School student Shreyank S Kotian was also recognized with a talent award.
The former MLA Krishna J Palemar, municipal commissioner Ajit Kumar Hegde, the state minister Abhaychandra Jain, Sai Ram, Harish Karkera, Leelaksha Karkera, Mohan Karkera, Suresh Karkera, H S Sairam, Padmaraj, Dr B G Suvarna, Navaneeth Shetty and Bhaskar Rai Kukkavalli were present during the inaugural function.
