Udupi, 28 Aug 2013: Upadyaya Moodubelle, arts teacher of Government Composite High School, Valakadu, here and arts critic was qualified for national top teacher’s award.
It’s the first time that an arts teacher qualified in Karnataka. Upadhyaya began his career at Women’s Government Pre-University College, Car Street, Mangalore and transferred to Government Composite High School, Valakadu, here.
Upadhyaya is also serving as resource person in block education department. He has been organizing mega arts exhibition of both paintings and handicrafts through the arts union of school since the past 25 years, besides several programme to help the students to unravel their inherent talent in painting. He mentored the students in preparing computer projects to compete in state level Intel technology competitions and won state award.
Upadhyaya has already made his name as an artiste, Rangoli artiste, litterateur and fine artist. He is also serving as member of Karnataka Lalit Kala Academy. He has contributed over 2,000 articles in newspapers. He has authored 4 books, drawn art for cover pages of commemorating bulletin. His interview has been broadcast in Akashwani and telecast in TV channels. His biography is available in Hampi University. He has bagged appreciation letters from Indian PM, Indian President, American President and heads of African nations and Nepal.
Nevertheless, he has felicitated the achievers more than the awards that he had bagged in his life. He has founded Upadhyaya Moodubelle Kala Pratistan, and contributed his major part of lifetime earnings in promoting art and artists. He has double degree in arts.
The National Award will be presented by Indian President Pranab Mukherjee at Rastrapati Bhavan on Thursday September 5.
