Moodubelle: Bus collides with bike: Bike rider and child in serious condition

Moodubelle, 10 September 2012: The city bus, Sree Sathyanath, Jai Ganesh driven by Vishwanath Acharya collided with a bike at Nellikatte, near Moodubelle in the morning at around 8.30 am on Monday, September 10, 2012.
The bike rider Girish Acharya (27) was taking Pavan(9) his nephew and eldest son of Balakrishna and Vani Acharya to be dropped at the Subhodhini Higher Primary School at Alevooru.
It is said that the driver Vishwanath Acharya was negligent in his driving due to which the mishap took place causing grievous injuries to both Girish and Savan who are both admitted to the KMC Hospital in Manipal. Girish with critical condition is in the ICU. The boy has suffered serious injuries in the leg who is also in the same hospital.
Hearing about the accident a large number of people gathered on the spot including the local Panchayat member, Rajendra Shetty and demanded the immediate arrest of Vishwanath Acharya. Fearing threat, Vishwanath escaped from the spot.
A large number of students who were travelling by the bus had to walk all the way to Moodueblle due to non-movement of the traffic for quite some time. After the arrival of the police led by SI K.R. Naik the traffic was regularized. The people gathered demanded not only the arrest of the driver but to see to it that he will not be allowed to drive buses to Moodubelle.
