Mangalore: Another instance of Moral Policing; Group attacks photo-editor

Mangalore, 08 Oct 2014: In what can be said, as the continued part of the series of moral policing instances in the district, a group of 10 activists attacked a photo-editor belonging to majority community for speaking to the girl of a different community.

 

The victim has been identified as thirty-eight-year-old Ragavendra Achar. It is said that the group barged into his shop located in Kunil Centre, Hampankatta here and threatened to kill after assaulting him.

 

 

It is said that they ransacked the office and looted Rs 50,000 cash from the shop.

 

The victim has been admitted to district Wenlock Hospital here.

 

Mangalore north police arrived at the spot and are investigating the matter.

 

Looking at the developments, it seems that this could be the new way of looting people in the name of moral policing.

 

Now, its the responsibility of police, legislators and peoples’ representatives to maintain peace in the district and curb moral policing activities.
