Moodubelle: Fifty-fifth Rajyotsava observed in St. Lawrence Composite PU College

Moodubelle, 02 November 2010: Fifty-fifth Rajyotsava was observed in the St. Lawrence Composite PU College, Moodubelle on 1 and 2 November 2010. The Rajyotsava is being celebrated throughout  the Karnataka State as the commemoration of the formation of the Karnataka State on 1 November 1956.

 

On Monday, 1 November 2010, Fr. Paul Sequeira, Principal of the College hoisted the flag in the presence of the students and staff members at 9.30 am. Mr. Navin Correa, lecturer of History in the PU College in his speech highlighted the historical significance of the Rajyotsava. In his speech, Fr. Paul Sequeira made an appeal to the students to cultivate the spirit of patriotism. He said that the flag, though comparatively a small piece of cloth has a lot of significance as it represents  unity, sacrifice and honour of the country and the state. He said that Karnataka State has a lot of resources which should be utilized for the development of the state and progress of its people.

 

 

As part of the Rajyotsava celebration, the high school and PU College students presented cultural programmes on Tuesday, 2 November 2010 from 10 am.  The programmes included fancy dress, tableau, folk dances and patriotic group songs.

 

The tableaux and folk dances, thoughtfully and excellently presented by both the high school and college students depicted the rich cultural traditions of Karnataka.

 

During the recess, Fr. Paul Sequeira presented certificates to the Scouts and Guides Students of St. Lawrence High School who had participated in two days Patrol Leadership Camp organised at the Dandathirtha PU College, Kaup.
