Hosadurga, 22 Nov 2012: “Change is the rule of the world and the aim of the Programme is to bring change in the life of the People”, said Dr. Veerendra Heggade speaking at a function of inauguration of 2001 Progressive Self-help Groups and distribution of agricultural implements to the farmers jointly organized by the Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala Village Development Programme of Hosadurga Taluk, Finance Ministry of the Central Government, NABARD and Canara Bank, Bangalore at Hosadurga on Tuesday, November 20, 2012.
Speaking further, Dr. Heggade said that Dharmasthala Village Development Programme has come to give new meaning and shape to the lives of the common people. It enables to strengthen the people financially and intellectually and also brings about change in the way people have been thinking. This programme through various activities has been able to build the lives of the people.
There should be a will to achieve something good in life. In order to achieve there should be someone to guide. This work is being done by the Village Development Programme with the help of the government. Change is important for any progress. The aim of the micro finance is to enable even the poorest of the poor person to get loan from banks.
Many people are not aware of the facilities that are available to them from the government schemes. The Village Development Programme by enabling people to get government facilities has been doing the work of promoting self reliance among them.
Along with the NABARD and Canara Banks, the Village Development Programme has been going from door to door to help the poor people to get loans in order to pursue their dreams.
Dr. Heggade emphasized on the fact that people should shun bad habits and pay attention to cleanliness. He also pointed out how women can lead a life of self-respect and farmers can make progress in their lives.
Dr. L.H. Manjunath, Executive Director of SKDGY Dharmasthala welcomed and gave introductory remarks. D. Sudhakar, MLA of Hiriyur distributed agricultural implements to the beneficiaries.
Mrs. Geetha Basavaraj, President of the Zilla Panchayat Chitradurga said that the Self-help Groups have doing wonderful work in helping the women to improve their lives.
K. Virupaksha, DGM of Canra Bank Circle Office Hubli distributed ‘Pragathinidhi’ to Self-help Groups.
Prakash Bhandary DDM, NABARD Chitradurga distributed Smartcards to the Self-help Groups.
Subramanya Prasad, District Director of SKDGY of Chitradurga proposed the vote of thanks and Baby K, Programme Officer of Chitradurga Taluk and Virupaksha, Officer in Charge of Hosadurga compeered the programme.
