Mumbai, 02 Mar: The simplicity enhances the dignity of a woman, while traditional celebration of Haldi Kumkum is also a cultural practice. When women gather, it promotes friendship and empathy. The practice of applying kumkum to forehead and wearing bangles is a distinct practice. It’s an auspicious occasion when women gets special respect, said Ranjani S Hegde, president of women wing of Bunts Sangh Mumbai®.
Ranjani was speaking after inaugurating Haldi Kumkum celebration that was organized by women wing of Billawar Association Mumbai® at Billavar Bhavan auditorium, Santacruz (East), here on Friday, March 1.
It was presided by Billawar Association president L V Amin.
Speaking on the occasion, L V Amin said that the celebration of Haldi Kumkum was a household celebration in the past. Meanwhile, the public celebration facilitates the new generation to understand its significance. Women are well placed in instilling cultural values in their children.
Mathrabhoomi Co-operative Credit Society Limited director Uma Krishna Shetty, Essar Financial Services Private Limited director Anita R K Shetty and social activist Yashoda N T Poojary were the chief guests of the occasion.
Sudha L V Amin distributed the prizes to the winners of devotional singing.
Women wing members Yashoda R Punja, Pramoda S Shetty, Lata Prabhakar Shetty, Sujata Gunapal Shetty, Harinakshi J Shetty, Ratna P Shetty and others were present.
Silent prayers were offered for the martyrs of Pulwama attack.
Vanita Nonda welcomed the gathering. Sujata R Shetty compered the programme. Laxmi Kotian proposed vote of thanks.
