Bantwal deanery ICYM unit organizes Christmas Cup 2018

Bantwal, 29 Oct: India Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) unit of Bantwal deanery organized Christmas Cup 2k18 at Infant Jesus parish grounds, Modankap, here on Sunday, October 28. The cricket tournament for men and lagori for women were held on the occasion.

 

Modankap assistant parish priest Fr Ashwin L Crasta, parish council vice president Sandeep Menezes and secretary Richard D’Souza inaugrated the tournament by batting and hitting the dice of lagori.

 

Ten teams have taken part in cricket tournament and 9 teams in lagori.

 

 

After some interesting matches, Stree Sanghoton led by Avita won the first place in lagori for the successive third year and the Modankap Church ward led by Gretta Moras won the second place.

 

St Theresa of Kolkotta ward of Modankap parish won the first place for the successive third year in cricket tournament and the team of St Peter’s ward led by Daniel D’Souza and the team of Christ the King ward led by Julius were the runners up.

 

ICYM members Aniketh, Anisha Frank and James Sequeira presented the commentary along with Fr Crasta for the whole day. The referees for lagori were Avinash Jeevan D’Souza and Sandeep D’Souza. The scoring was done by Felita Noronha for lagori and for cricket by Anikeith, James and Annette.

 

The umpires for cricket were Avinash D’Souza, Daniel D’Souza, Robin Baretto, Vijith Saldanha, Sandeep D’Souza, James Sequeira, Marvin D’Souza, Denzel D’Souza and Criston D’Souza.

 

ICYM president Avinash Jeevan D’Souza and secretary Annette Carol D’Souza monitored the whole event and it went on with a smooth flow.
