Udupi: Cultural news also forms part of media - Minister Pramod Madwaraj

Udupi, 24 Sep 2017: Media should also give importance to cultural activities along with news, said Karnataka minister for spots and fisheries Pramod Madwaraj.
He was speaking after inaugurating ‘Udupi Habba’ organised by Muktha TV, at Jayakrishna Auditorium of Hotel Mathura Comforts, here, on September 21.
Swami Sugunendra of Puttige mutt and Swami Vishwaprasanna of Pejavar mutt graced the occasion.
Kakkunje Nagananda Vasudev Acharya, former minister Jayaprakash Hedge, Congress leader M A Gafoor, councillors Amrutha Krishnamurti, Shyam Pramod Kudva, Yashpal Suvarna, BJP leader Udayakumar Shetty, Gurme Suresh Shetty, former MLAs Raghupathi Bhat and Gopal Bhandari, industrialist Jagadish Pai, Bhima Jewellers manager Guruprasad Rao and former chairperson of Lioness Club Nirupama Shetty were the chief guests.
The cultural events were staged in beautifully decorated stage with traditional colours and glitters. More than 100 kids took place in ‘Muddu Krishna – Muddu Radhe’ competition in 2 age groups (0-5 years and 5 years -10 years). Sneha Acharya, Sumana Acharya and Shubha Bhasri were the jurors of the competition.
Results: 0 to 5 years: First prize: Amshika, Second prize: Arush, Third prize: Akshaj
Results: 5 to10 years: First prize: Chaithali, Second prize: Adhish, Third prize: Gouthami
The valedictory function was graced by Swami Lakshmivara of Shiroor mutt.
The cultural events included, ‘Krishna Nee Begane Baro’ - a musical presentation to Lord Krishna by the talented young artistes and ‘Nrithya Neelanjana’ - a dance presentation of various renowned dance groups of Udupi and around.
The cultural events attracted thousands of art enthusiasts and received applauds. The total events will be telecasted by Muktha TV in series from September 21 to September 30.
