Mangalore: Splendour of Tulunadu Culture comes alive at Aatida Koota in city

Mangalore, 20 Jul 2014: There was a flavour of traditional Tulunadu culture in the atmosphere. The artefacts were exhibited reminding on splendour on rich landlord’s house. The traditional dances were performed. Tulu folk songs were sung. What more you require making Tulunadu cultural extravaganza come alive?

 
This is the just pictorial explanation of atmosphere at ‘Aatida Koota’ traditional get-together of peasants’ fraternity during Aati – Tulu month of resting after strenuous farming activities of monsoon season.  It was jointly organized by Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy and Soujanya Mahila Mandala at Radhakrishna Mandira, near Urwa Marigudi temple here on Saturday July 19.

 

 
The members of the Mandala were in zeal to display the hospitality skills of Tulunadu with the traditional delicacies. They included Idli, Midi Uppinakayi, Moode, Tajank Palya, Poombe Palya, Kanile Padengi, Kudutta Chutney, Pelakai Appa, Pelakai Gatti, Tejank Chattambade,  Kukkuda Tambuli, Tetla Puli etc.  Its significant that the people of erstwhile Tulunadu used to consume these delicacies to strengthen their immunity.  

 
The members of the Mahila mandala presented skits showcasing the rural games and practices of Aati.

 
It also gave a chance for the gathering to savour the traditional delicacies and also transpire to the world of erstwhile Tulunadu.
