Bantwal: Locals thwart attempted medico rape at Anilakatte; accused in police custody

Bantwal, Jul 12, 2014 : The locals thwarted an attempt to rape a medico who was walking in a deserted stretch of road that leads to Anilakatte, near Vittal, here on Friday July 11. The locals rushed to the rescue of medico, managed to nab the accused and handed him over to police custody.
The arrested has been identified as twenty-four-year-old Sharif, a painter son of Kadri Beary, residing at Badanaje, near Kadambu – Anilakatte.
Sharif followed the medico who was on her way home at Anilakatte, near Vittal. The medico had to buy something at the shop located nearby Kadambu temple, when he accosted her and wanted to know where she went and where is her home. She replied him it’s not his business. The accused Sharif aware that she was all alone and none at the sight, caught hold of her hand, when the medico hit him with her umbrella and cried for help.
The locals rushed to the spot, when Sharif began to flee. The locals collectively chased and managed to catch him. They thrashed him and handed over to the police who arrived at the spot.
Vittal sub-inspector T R Raghavendra registered a case in this regard.
The policemen put opportunist youngster Sharif in a cell.
