Bantwal: Struggle to include Tulu in Constitution utmost needed - Damodar Nisarga

Bantwal, Jul 9, 2014 : The native Tulu-speaking community had to stage struggle from village to New Delhi, in order to urge the union government to include Tulu in eighth schedule of Indian Constitution, said Tulu Koota – Mangalore president Damodar Nisarga.

 

Damodar was speaking here on Tuesday July 8 during the preliminary meeting on organizing the proposed Tulu Utsav, in Bantwal during the silver jubilee celebration of Akhila Bharata Tulu Okkoota in association with Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy.  

 

Its due to the efforts of Tulu organizations, Tulu has gotten significance in Akashwani, Doordarshan, daily newspapers, added Damodar.

 

Akhila Bharata Tulu Okkoota organizing secretary Nitte Sasidar Shetty, vice president Chandrashekar Suvarna, Tulu Koota chief secretary Ratna Kumar, Bantwal Land Development Bank president Sudarshan Jain, Bantwal - Rani Abbakka Tulu Study Centre president Professor Tukaram Poojary were present on the dais.

Kaiyoor Narayan Bhat, Jagdish Kundar, Bantwal – Kannada Sahitya Parishat former president Tammayya, president Jayanand Peraje, Jaycees Bantwal president Manohar Nerambolu, litterateur Vijaya Shetty Salettoor and others were present on the occasion.

 

Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy member D M Kulal welcomed the gathering.  H K Nayanad compered the programme.  Sitaram Shetty Kantady proposed vote of thanks.
