Mangalore: Attavar murder case; DCIB Police arrest 3 youth

Mangalore, Jul 8, 2014 : The District Crime Investigation Bureau (DCIB) police arrested 3 youth with regard to the killing of 2 gold smugglers at Mahakalipadpu, here on Saturday July 5. The killing was taken place a few days ago at Attavar here.
When the police intercepted a Renault Duster SUV at Mahakalipadpu, here on Saturday, they found blood stained clothes. The further interrogation by the policemen unravelled the mystery of murder.
The city police commissioner R Hitendra who informed about the arrest in his office said that there are no cases registered against these 3 in Karnataka. As per the information gathered all the three were operating in Goa and Andhra Pradesh, the assistance of police those states are being sought, said Hitendra.
The youth had obtained their fake passports from Hyderabad in May 2014.
The police have questioned the owner of the house who had rented the house to these 3 youth a month ago and also his role related to the killing is yet to be known.
Out of 3 kilograms of gold, two-and-a-half kilograms were already sold and police have been able to identify 2 buyers while efforts are on to recover the gold.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of city police commissioner Hitendra, assistant commissioner K V Jagadish and N Vishnuvardhan, with the team comprised ACP Pavan Nejjur, DCIB inspector Valentine D’Souza, Mangalore south police station inspector Dinakar Shetty and the staff of DCIB and Mangalore south police station.
The assistant commissioner K V Jagadish and N Vishnuvardhan were present at the occasion.
