Mangalore: Graduation Day of Kalakul - Konkani’s Only Theater Repertory

Mangalore, 2 Jul 2014: The Graduation Day of Kalakul – Konkani’s lone Theater Repertory was held at Kalaangann, Makale, here on Monday June 20.
 
Dr Edward Nazareth, Professor of Orthopedics and well known Konkani writer was the chief guest of the occasion.
 
Christopher D’Souza Neenasam, chief trainer of Kalakul presented the annual report.
 
Dr Edward Nazareth honored the outgoing trained artistes with Diploma Certificates. The Certificates were presented to 11 artistes who have successfully completed their theater training in 2013-14 batch. They are Maria Joyce D’Souza, Neeshma D’Souza, Sandeep Tellies, Melwyn Pais, Malcon Rego, Hanley Coelho, Arun Jayson Tauro, Preetham Rodrigues, Rohan Lobo, Rivin Crasta and Venissa D’Cunha.

 

 
 
Arun Jayson Tauro was awarded Best Kalakul Artiste of the Year award.
 
Dr Edward Nazareth praised Kalakul for raising the standard of Konkani theater. He also welcomed the new batch of 2014-15 by handing over the uniforms.
 
Arun Raj Rodrigues, playwright and administrator of Kalakul compered the programme.
 
Mandd Sobhann president Louis Pinto, Gurkar Eric Ozario were also present.
 
This year, Kalakul Repertory has produced 4 major plays, 3 street plays and has presented 55 shows including 2 national drama festivals.
