Karkal: Kannada sustenance lies in love & trust with fellow Kannadigas - Chinnappa Gowda

Karkal, 29 Jun 2014: There are chiefly three causes for misery of a human being: natural calamities, physical/mental ailments and strained human relations. It’s tragic that young children are committing suicides that are not a healthy sign in the society. The need of the hour is the literature has to shape the life of people with positive thoughts. The people should be united in love and mutual trust to promote Kannada, said Mangalore University Professor and Yakshagana Study Centre director Dr Chinnappa Gowda.
Dr Gowda was speaking after inaugurating twelfth taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelan at Nana Patekar auditorium, Sri Durgaparameshwari temple, Mundkoor, near here on Saturday June 28.
Dr Gowda further said that the Sammelans that are being organized in rural villages will strengthen the sustenance of Kannada for several centuries. He also felicitated Dr Janardhan Bhat, who has authored several books in Kannada literature, poetry, novels, articles, critics since the past 30 years and congratulated for being chosen as Sammelan chairman during twelfth Kannada Sahitya Sammelan here.
The Sammelan president Belman Government Pre-University College principal Dr B Janardhan Bhat in his presidential address acknowledged the tradition of organizing Kannada Sammelan in taluk and also contribution of past presidents of 11 Sammelans. He also explained the contribution of Konkani speaking community especially of Mundkoor Narasimha Kamat towards Kannada.
Kannada Sahitya Parishat former president Harikrishna Punaroor, Savitri Manohar, Prasanna Sacceripete, Udayakumar S Habbu, released Kannada book authored by Mundkur Krishna Udupa on the same occasion.
The deputy director of public instruction S S Sinda, taluk Sammelan past president Dr K Raghav Nambiar, ZP member Supreet Shetty, Innabeedu Ravindra B Shetty, taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishat president B C Rao Shivapura, Bhuvanabhirama Udupa also spoke on the occasion.
Tamil Nadu Kannada Sangh president K P Acharya, Balakrishna Alva, Vedamurti Ramdas Acharya, Karkal block education officer Manmohan H K was present at the dais.
Udupi district Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Surendra Adiga delivered the keynote address.
Mumbai entrepreneurs Mohandas S Shetty and Ratnakar Shetty Mundkoor were conferred with Horanada Sadaka Kannadiga Prashasti.
The Sammelan honorary president K Satyashankar Shetty welcomed the gathering. Sainat Shetty and Balakrishna Shetty compered the programme. Prabhakar Shetty Kondalli proposed vote of thanks.
