Puttur: St Philomena College welcomes Student on beginning of new academic year

Puttur, 27 Jun 2014: The academic year 2014-15 marked its beginning by welcoming the students of second year and final year at St Philomena College, here recently.
 
It also had its distinction to have a new Correspondent Fr Alfred Pinto, a distinguished personality and an able administrator who would steer the institution in the coming years.
 
It was an overwhelming to see the freshers’ who seemed determined to rise above all challenges and look ahead.
 
The correspondent Fr Alfred Pinto, campus director Fr Antony Prakash Monterio, principal Professor Leo Noronha, and the student welfare officers  Bharati Rai and Professor Ganesh Bhat.
 
The freshers’ were welcomed with open minds; open hands and open hearts by offering a bouquet to the student representatives making them feel as the integral part of the college.

 

 
Fr Alfred addressed the students pointing out at their challenges and opportunities in their future days.
 
Fr Alfred said, ‘A good individual contributes to a good family which contributes to a better society. Therefore it is in the hands of the youngsters to understand their responsibility.’
 
Professor Leo Noronha while addressing the gathering spoke about the esteem and honour of the college and advised the students to uphold the legacy of this great institution. Students were asked to adhere to the rules and regulations of this college which will shape their future.
Fr Antony Prakash Monterio, being the alumnus of this institution spoke about his experience and how it has helped him grow in his life. Citing the example of Michael Angello he said, ‘There is no substitute for hard work. To make our life a worth one, one should be earnest and strongly motivated. He concluded by advising the students to be constructive and productive in nature.’
 
Krithika and Keerthi from ll B Sc, with their prayer song invoked God to shower his choicest blessings. Professor Ganesh Bhat welcomed the gathering. Bharati Rai compered the programme.
