Mangalore, 27 Jun 2014: The residents of Jantabettu locality, near here plead ZP administration for the second time, to address their grievances of one upmanship of Permude gram panchayat development officer (PDO) Hasanabba who is responsible for the mess caused by private land owners in polluting their fertile farmlands.
The locals including gram panchayat office bearers demand ZP administration to sack PDO Hasanabba and take disciplinary action on the village accountant, alleging that there has been rampant corruption related to conversion of farmland with survey number 34 and 36 in Kuttettoor village for commercial purpose. The land owners have leveled the plot during 2013 that has pushed the silt into farmlands located on low lying areas. The locals complained this with ZP chief executive officer who has instructed Hasanabba to restore the normalcy by building a barrier wall that was built with sub standard quality already withered in a few spots.
The locals condemn the actions of PDO and village accountant who is encouraging private parties to own farmlands for commercial use causing distress to poor farmers.
‘The locals are troubling land owners because they belong to one community, as it is there are no problems,’ says PDO who has been covering up his shoddy acts of one upmanship, corruption by saying the locals are doing it because they want to create communal harmony.
It’s a fact the farmers in the neighbourhood of Kuttettoor are facing the environmental disaster. I have visited the spot and convinced of sub standard quality of works. I will urge the concerned authorities to take action on the erring officer, said Sandesh, Permude gram panchayat president.
The farmers are distressed owing to one upmanship of PDO. I will urge higher officers to probe the issue and take action on erring officer, said ZP member Ritesh Shetty.
