Abu Dhabi: Toastmasters Area 11 Combined Meeting held successfully at ISC

Abu Dhabi, 26 Jun 2014: The combined meeting of Al Jazeera, ISC Toastmasters, Spectrum, Tebodin  ETA Escon Star was held successfully at India Social and Cultural Centre on Wednesday, 25th June 2014 at 7:30pm.  It was a hot summer evening on 25th June 2014.Braving the heat and humidity some distinguished smart formals made their way to the ISC Mini Hall.  It was an occasion where a conundrum of celebrations marking the achievements of Toastmasters, Area 11 of Dvision H and it was the area combined meeting celebrating; Togetherness of Area 11, 5 out of 6 clubs in Area 11 are distinguished clubs, Area 11  a "President Distinguished Area", Installation of new leaders for the year 2014-15 and Area News Letter release.It was a meeting adorned with poignant moments.

 

Meeting was called to order by Sgt At Arms TM Dilip Kumar.A succinct delivery of the mission of toastmasters that set the tone for the entire evening.He then handed over the lectern to emcees of the evening MTM Shubada and TM Anil Pinto.The meeting was kept lively by the energetic chirpy TM Anil and the graceful synchroniser, MTMShubada.

 

Next the Area Governor TM Anoop Ok delivered his address.It projected the enthusiasm and a justified smugness that bespoke the fruition of anyear long hard work.He then invited the Presidents of all the 6 clubs to open the meeting .Each  address was marked with their distinctive traits as they delivered the last speech of their tenure as Presidents.But collectively they exuded optimism, enthusiasm and commitment to toast mastering.

 

A proud moment then followed the opening addresses of the presidents.Installation of all the new club officers was done by an eminent toastmaster who is leadership personified and founder member of Al Jazira TM Farrukh Ali.It was then followed by the address of Area Governor Elect TM AlokTuteja.A silent leader who acknowledged the benchmark set by his predecessor;his address depicted the eager anticipation to leave a distinct mark in the coming year.The emcees then proceeded with the toastmasters meeting introducing the role players.Timers were TM Muralidharanand TM  Shahul.

 

The timers kept an excellent track of time throughout the meeting with a marked precision.Word of the day was delivered by TM Hosni.The word was Zephyr of Latin origin meaning gentle breeze.A new toastmaster, he delivered it with a characteristic élan.Thought of the day was delivered by TM Anand.An apt choice of a thought for the momentous occasion when the new leadership took over.“Don’t give in to adversity, but be strong and change the circumstances”.

 

 

Then followed a galore of prepared speeches; Project 1 was delivered by TM Subramanian, Project 9 was delivered by TM Rijju, Project 10 was delivered by TM Shabu.

 

Each toastmaster had a message woven into their script and with their conviction they captured the hearts of all the audience.Evaluations followed by experienced toastmasters who in their own imitable style delivered the evaluations aiming at constructive feedback. Then followed an energetic , well conceptualised impromptu speech session executed with alacrity by TM Jairam and TM Mathew.5 speakers contributed, perspectives embedded with humour.

 

It was followed by word master’s report and general evaluation by MTM Shuchita. Following which was the crowning glory of the Area11 achievement – News Letter release by DIV Governor DTM Bharat.In his address DIV Gov DTM Bharat congratulated the Area 11 team effort under the able leadership of Area Governor TM Anoop.He then wished for the continued excellence under the new leadership.Assistant DivGov DTM Anil in his address commented on the energy and synergy which demarcated the Area 11 unified symphony.

 

Award Ceremony followed which marked the best of the best and the final winners were declared namely: Best Speaker – TM Rijju, Best Evaluator – TM Manmohan, Best TT Speaker- TM Mathew Kurien.  All the winners were honoured with a memento each.

 

Closing address by Area governor TM Anoop and Area Governor Elect TM Alok was the zenith of the combined meeting which then culminated into a much awaited scrumptious dinner.

 

A meeting marked by a confluence of diverse perspectives but united in their commitment to toast mastering.
