Mangalore: City Airport Customs seize foreign currencies from Sharjah-bound Passengers

Mangalore, 26 Jun 2014: The officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport seized various foreign currencies amounting to US$ 10,000, Omani Riyals 1,950 and Kuwaiti Dinars 1,450, possessed illicitly by 4 passengers and concealed inside their hand baggage.
The passengers have been identified as Nasir Kappil Abdulla, Abdulla Kunhi, Abdul Gabbar and Khalid Hassainer, residents of Udma and Hidayat Nagar, Kasargod.
All these passengers were intercepted at the time of their departure to Sharjah by Air India Express flight number IXB 823 on Wednesday June 25.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Pravin Vinod, assistant commissioner of customs, Mangalore International Airport by a team comprised superintendents Marcus Pereira, R S Venkataram, R G Gaonkar, S K Nelli and inspectors Prashant Tiwari, K Nirmala, Anil Kumar and Hawaldar Gopal.
Further investigation is under progress at the guidance of D Purushottam, commissioner of customs, Mangalore.
