Kundapur: Gar Gar Mandla, Kundapura Kannada movie runs houseful in Theaters

Kundapur, 18 Jun 2014: Gar Gar Mandla, the first ever Kundapura Kannada commercial movie that was premiered in Vinayaka theater here and Shankar theater at Byndoor, near here on Friday June 14 is running houseful, while the efforts of movie director Ravi Basroor in producing the movie out of his love for Kundapura Kannada has paid off.
 
The movie was produced at a cost of Rs 52 lac.  It was directed and produced by Ravi Basroor, who is a music director by profession, casting more than 100 artistes.  Ravi has experience of working in about 58 movies directed and produced this movie all by himself.  He is the script writer and contributed dialogues and composed music too.  The title of the movie – Gar Gar Mandla is the name of a gambling, but that has no relevance to the movie, while most of the scenes were shot in and around Kundapur.  Gar Gar in Kundapura Kannada is known as revolving, Mandla is the Earth.  It’s the friction-based movie by incorporating everyday happenings in this modern world.  ‘Its chiefly novelty movie revolving around press, politicians and police,’ says director Ravi Basroor.  The movie is of 1 hour and 40 minutes duration and has 4 songs and 3 stunts.

 

 

 
It’s significant that although it’s a friction based movie, the local journalists and the former MLA Appanna Hegde acted in this movie to make it more realistic.  Adarsh Hegde who is an engineer by profession is the hero and Shamita is the heroine of the movie.
 
I have not produced movie to make huge money
 
‘I have not produced the movie to make huge money.  I have made the movie out of my love for Kundapura Kannada.  It has cost Rs 52 lac to make it.  The movie is premiered in Kundapur taluk only for 2 weeks.  If it runs houseful for these 2 weeks, I would be able to recover about Rs 15 to Rs 20 lac.  Therefore, money was not the criteria behind producing the movie, its being produced with love for Kundapura Kannada.  The movie-buffs indeed enjoy the movie that is indeed great reward,’ says Ravi Basroor.
