Mumbai: Susmita Olivera Padukone, Student of Indian School excelling in Chess at Dubai

Mumbai, 07 Jun 2014: Sixteen-year-old Susmita Olivera, daughter of Godwin Olivera Padukone and Blossom Olivera couple, natives of Mumbai and are working in Dubai is excelling in chess while studying in Indian School, Dubai.
She developed interest in chess whilst studying in Class V at St Thomas Academy, Mumbai. She competed in district level chess in Mumbai and developed self confidence. Her parents encouraged in her passion by coaching till she shifted to Dubai.
Although initially she was worried that she would not get chances to exhibit her talent in chess in UAE, she got a chance to represent her school in CBSE cluster in Dubai. Subsequently, she got other opportunities to play international tournaments. She was awarded the best girl player in a local tournament, besides she also got several prizes in local chess tournaments.
In 2013, she played for her school at CBSE clusters and got qualified for national level. Her team among which she was the only girl played for her school at Uttar Pradesh in India and secured the 14th rank in All India level Chess. She got the opportunity of play in Sharjah International Cup where she was honored to play with the grandmaster.
She was born and brought up in a sporty family; she also got opportunities to excel in sports. She was in Class VII when she participated as an athlete in the inter house meet at her school. She was the first in 400 meter race. She acknowledges the support of her teachers and school mates in shaping her athletic career.
