Udupi: Future Engineer who lives in hut at Bantakal seeks financial help

Udupi, May 28, 2014 : Her mother is illiterate…! She has lost her husband….! They have security of a dwelling quarter.  The children are deprived of fatherly love..! Girija Moolya who is sustaining her family comprised one son and two daughters by doing odd jobs in the neighbourhood.  She has let her son – Sachin to discontinue his studies to supplement the family income by working as daily wager.  Her daughter Sangeeta passed SSLC with 96.80 percent results while studying in Narayana Guru Kannada Medium High School, Padubelle, near here.  She could study because of generous support from philanthropists.  She has the aspiration to study science in PUC and pursue engineering studies.  Her younger sister Sarika is studying in Class X at Narayana Guru Kannada Medium High School, Padubelle who also aspires to study further………..!

Girija Moolya who has a dwelling quarter at Podamale, near Arasikatte, at the limits of Bantakal in Shirva gram panchayat is in a miserable condition..!  She has no proper title deed for her living quarter.  Her husband had built a dwelling quarter on a 20-cents plot that bought on mere verbal terms.  It has bare minimum amenities, no windows, a single room serves for all purposes, reading, cooking etc. It is a nightmare to live in the house during the monsoon, because the mud walls pose threat to their life.  The family lives on kerosene lamp in the night. 

 

 

A road has been laid linking Arasinakatte – Podamale besides their dwelling quarter that has been encroached upon.  The landlord instructed Girija to vacate the land as they are willing to pay the original sum including interest.  The landlord has evil plan to make this family homeless, by selling the plot for higher rates to a prospective customer, as the land prices have dramatically increased in the recent past. Girija is in a dilemma of housing and to manage her family.

 

The family seeks generous contributions from philanthropists to support the studies of talented children who aspire to study further.  Meanwhile, the governing council of S V H Pre-University College, Bannanje consented to bear the fees of Sangeeta.  Bantakal Friends contributed Rs 6,100 for her studies.
