Udupi: Manipal University signs MoU with Bapuji Edu Institution, Shimoga

Udupi, 21 May 2014: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Manipal University and Bapuji Education Institutions at Manipal here recently, to run Aradhya Manipal Hospital, which is to opening shortly in Shimoga. Busloads of patients are brought to Kasturba Hospital, Manipal every day from Shimoga and Davangere.
Located on Sowlanga road, about four kilometers from the City Centre and Bus station, Aradhya Manipal Hospital will have a 100-bedded secondary level hospital with all modern equipment and diagnostic facilities. It will include emergency and trauma care, Intensive Care Units, general ward facility and private patient rooms. It will offer services in basic specialties like general medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, pediatrics etc and super specialty services by consultants from Kasturba Hospital, Manipal on select days.
The MoU was signed by Dr G K Prabhu, Registrar, for Manipal University and M V P Aradhya for Bapuji Education Institutions in the presence of Dr H S Ballal, Pro Chancellor of Manipal University and Dr Vinod Bhat Pro-Vice Chancellor, Manipal University. ‘The main objective of the MoU is to facilitate treatment of patients from the districts of Shimoga and Davangere who have been patronizing Kasturba Hospital all these years,’ said Dr Ballal.
At Aradhya Manipal Hospital, patients will have access to secondary level care with basic specialties. M V P Aradhya chairman, Bapuji Education Institutions said the purpose of setting up the Aradhya Manipal Hospital in Shimoga was to provide access to affordable and quality health care of secondary level to the people of Shimoga and Davanagere districts in collaboration with Manipal Group, a highly reputed provider of healthcare services in India.
