Bantwal: Police Jeep knocks-down woman at Ramalkatte, near Thumbay

Bantwal, 19 May 2014: A woman was knocked down by a police jeep at Ramalkatte, near Thumbay, at the limits of Bantwal rural police station here on Saturday May 17.
The woman has been identified as forty-two-year-old Philomena Coelho, a native of Thumbay, here.
Philomena was about to board an Ambassador taxi at Ramalkatte, near Thumbay, here to attend Holy Mass at Infant Jesus church, Modankap, here on Saturday at 3.00pm, when the marauding police jeep knocked her down.
The critically injured Philomena was at once taken to Father Muller Hospital at Thumbay, where she was pronounced brought dead.
Bantwal rural police registered a case in this regard.
Philomena was a social activist and serving as member in Infant Jesus parish council, Modankap. She was the president of Stree Shakti self-help-group. She is survived by sixteen-year-old son and ten-year-old daughter.
