Udupi: Economical Empowerment of Unorganized laborers leads to Better Edu of Children - Rao

Udupi, 18 May 2014: The children of unorganized laborers form greater strength in state-run Kannada medium schools. Meanwhile, if the unorganized laborers are educated on the benefits that are available to them from Karnataka building and allied laborers welfare Board; their children easily come to the mainstream of society. The living standards of laborers will have positive effect on the education of their children, said BEO Ravishankar Rao.
Rao was speaking after offering motion for enrolment of state benefits meant for unorganized laborers that was organized by Rotary Club International (RCI) Shankarapura led by Rajiv Nagar School principal S S Prasad at Rotary Bhavan, Shankarapura, here on Saturday May 17.
RCI district RTI Committee president Pundalika Marate said that both the unorganized laborers and their children are entitled for state benefits, while the general awareness will go a long way in helping them to make use of their due benefits.
The labor inspector R Ravikumar explained the registration process to avail such benefits.
RCI designated president Jerome Rodrigues, former president Antony D’Sa, Henry Castelino were present at the dais.
RCI – Shankarapura Denzel Castelino welcomed the gathering. S S Prasad compered the programme.
Over 150 laborers were present on the occasion.
