Udupi, 11 May 2014: The Tulunadu cultural hierarchy survived the test of times. The traditional practices indeed sustained the unity of coastal residents, said the renowned Tulu folklore scholar Bannanje Babu Amin.
Babu was speaking after felicitating Prakash Palame and Jayanti couple, wherein Prakash has earned laurels in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district Kambla – heroic buffaloes race since the past 15 years and postman Raghu Poojary who has been a dedicated postman since the past 34 years, during the function organized by Valadoor Welfare Association at Shirva, near here on Friday May 9.
Babu further said that it’s a distant dream that the government can uplift the poor villagers. The government funds when it finally reaches the villages it would a few thousands. The natives who have migrated to distant lands and have become entrepreneurs across the nation and overseas can contribute significantly for the progress of villages, as they have their genuine concern for fellowmen. Its owing to e-media and modern lifestyle, there has been setbacks to traditional thinking, while it’s tragic that children who are 5 years to 15 years are controlling the entire family, said Babu.
