Mangalore:DC instructs LS Vote counting staff to maintain transparency on May 16

Mangalore, May 10, 2014 : Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner (DC) and electioneering officer A B Ibrahim instructed vote counting staff to partake in set tasks without bias, transparency and self confidence during the vote counts of LS polls on Friday May 16 beginning at 8.00am.
DC Ibrahim was addressing the gathering of vote counting assistants and overseers during a meeting held at district headquarter here on Friday May 9.
The strong room that has Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) stored will be opened in front of the candidates and their representatives on Friday at 7.30am. The counting will begin at 8.00am, wherein the staff are compulsorily present at counting center at 7.00am, advised DC Ibrahim.
There will be 2 vote counting rooms for each legislative assembly constituency; each room will have 7 tables to lay EVMs. Each table will have one each assistant and overseer. The candidate will have a scope to assign one each of agent for each table, said district Additional Deputy Commissioner Sadashiv Prabhu.
The postal ballets and service votes will be counted in a separate room on Friday at 8.00am, in the presence of district electioneering officer, 3 additional assistant election officers and one gazette officer.
Krishnamurti, Puttur division officer who was trained in Election Commission of India, headquartered in New Delhi and district statistician N K Nagendra offered trained to the vote counting staff to hold transparency in vote counting on EVMs.
The special land acquisition officer M L Vaishali, Mangalore sub division officer Dr R Prashant and ZP deputy secretary N R Umesh were present.
