Mangalore: Weathermen forecast Heavy rains in 48 hours across Coastal & Malnad Districts

Mangalore, 8 May 2014: The meteorological department issued weather forecast of heavy rainfall in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Kodagu, Shimoga, Chikmagalur and Hassan districts during next 48 hours due to depression in Arabian Sea.


The thunder squalls with wind speed reaching velocity of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour is likely off coast during next 24 hours.  The fishermen are advised not to enter the sea.  The department of communication to be on alert, take precautionary measures, keep a close watch on all vulnerable areas, control rooms to be fully operational and report all incidents, rescue and relief teams to be on standby for emergency duties.
